Scars - Day 16

This was day 16.  I chose not to take earlier photos other than the taped ones, because there was little you could see with the drains and surgical tapes in the way.  From this stage I will take new photos about every week to show the healing and improvement over time.

To someone unfamiliar with what scars from a periareolar breast augmentation / lift and abdominoplasty look like, this is the stage at which it looks its very ugliest.  To me it looks incredible as I know how it typically looks now (much worse), and how it heals from here.

From this stage, as soon as the last of the dissolving stitches are gone, I will start wearing silicone sheeting over the scars for three months, which will help them to smooth out and to heal to a very thin little white line.  Right now the skin is puckered and pulled as its under tension...it is either pulled incredibly tight (over the stomach) or is stretched around the implants (breasts).  The puckering / pulling will go away over the next 4-6 weeks.  In 3 months, the scars will be healing nicely, and in 6-9 months I'll be able to tell what (if anything) I need in the way of scar therapy.

So first, breasts

The areas of unevenness / puckering around the incision will smooth out over the next little while.  This is an amazing scar appearance for this early on - I'm really pleased.

And the abdominal incision:

The scar's uneven-line appearance comes from the extent of pulling as the skin heals - it will flatten out to be a smooth and relatively flat line too.  As with the breast scars there is pulling and puckering at the scar site, that will settle in the months to come.

I'll aim for new pictures on Day 21, Day 28, etc.  These are taken in a mirror - eventually I will get someone to do some better scar close-ups.
